In a news story that is likely to strike fear into the hearts of the men that have to buy the wedding rings, a report on Virgin Media suggests that around 20% of single women have already begun to save up money that can be put towards their wedding day in terms of buying a wedding dress, paying for the venue and picking out wedding rings. Whilst it may not seem that outlandish that one in five women would be saving for a wedding, the key point is that none of the women surveyed were even engaged!
 

Wedding Rings – Celebrity Culture

According to the report on Virgin Media, almost all the women surveyed, 85%, wanted their ceremonies to be like a celebrity wedding in every sense from the wedding rings to the wedding dress. However, the women surveyed weren’t so optimistic that their parents would foot the bill for their lavish wedding ceremonies with 93% believing that they would have to finance the wedding rings et al themselves. Unfortunately for the unsuspecting men involved, it isn’t just breathtaking wedding rings that the women surveyed were after. Some 46% wanted to be wearing a designer wedding dress as they walked down the aisle and a further 27% wanted to employ the services of an expert wedding planner.
 

Wedding Rings – Extreme Measures

Such is many women’s desire to have the perfect wedding that, according to the report on Virgin Media, as many as one in four women would be prepared to get a second job to help finance their dresses, wedding rings and so forth. More shockingly, some 41% said that they would be prepared to blow their entire life savings on a wedding ceremony and wedding planner, Zoe Lingard, isn’t surprised by this and states, “Girls today know exactly what they want, down to the last detail, and have usually pored over magazine spreads, of the Wags' weddings in particular, so I'm not surprised that saving starts early.” So, if men can get away with just paying for the wedding rings, they can count themselves lucky.
