Jewellery - the curse of the osbournes

When Ozzy Osbourne battled with a robber at his mansion it seemed the Osbourne curse had struck again. Jewellery estimated at £2m was stolen as the rock legend got the burglar in a headlock trying to stop him snatching the jewellery. But the burglar got away jumping out of a window with a 30 foot drop. A large amount of jewellery was stolen in the raid.

£2m worth of jewellery stolen

The jewellery stolen was not just of value financially, but had huge emotional attachment too. Two wedding rings were taken and a special piece of jewellery – a survival ring Sharon Osbourne bought for herself when she discovered she was free from cancer. Other jewellery the burglaries stole included a pearl necklace and a sapphire.

Jewellery theft – series of mishaps

The jewellery theft seems to be just one of many mishaps that have befallen rock’s most famous family. Just four months after the jewellery theft, a fire ravaged the family’s Buckinghamshire mansion. The fire broke out in the living room while the couple were in bed, they escaped unhurt but the house was damaged.

Jewellery theft, fire and ill health

But the jewellery theft and fire was just a couple of incidents in a terrible run of illness, injury and misfortune;

  • 2004 - Jewellery thieves snatched valuable and sentimental jewellery, including wedding rings.

  • 2004 - A fire ravaged the family’s Buckinghamshire home

  • 2003 - The Black Sabbath singer almost died in a quad bike accident in the grounds of his own home.

  • 2002 – Sharon was diagnosed with colon cancer although made a full recovery

Terrible luck

The jewellery theft seemed to be the final nail in the coffin for the terrible run of bad luck. Ozzy Osbourne has never had an easy time of it, despite his fame and wealth. The fact he could buy as much replacement jewellery as he wants is immaterial when it comes to the misfortune he has suffered. He was abused as a child and later his drug and alcohol abuse left him unable to walk or talk property. Their son Jack has also been treated for drug problems, he was also the victim of a jewellery theft and attempted suicide, while his sister Kelly was also treated for painkiller addiction.

Despite the bad luck, lost jewellery and ill-health, the family continue to find success. Their 2002 show The Osbournes was a massive hit in the USA and UK, and the whole family have gone on to further their show biz careers.
