Wedding Rings – A Green Wedding
According to a report on the BBC, an environmentally conscious couple from Cornwall will be doing their best to ensure that their wedding is one that is as green as possible and won’t have any sort of negative effect upon the environment. Their grandest gesture can be seen in their choice of wedding rings, which are to be carved from wood instead of the more conventional choice of a gold ring.
Wedding Rings – Reducing the Eco Impact
As environmentalists, Russell Geake and Alexi Muskett decided that it was their responsibility to ensure that their wedding was as friendly to ecology as possible and their choice of wooden wedding rings certainly raised a few eyebrows. Speaking to the BBC, Bride to Be, Alexia states, “The less mark that you can make on the ground you walk on the better. It's much simpler if you do it this way. It's about keeping the meaning, because the meaning is about love and it's about your life and that's central to everything we've been doing.” The couple hope their wooden wedding rings will be a symbol of their commitment to one another and the groom to be, Russell, states, “You have to look after them, and polish them, like a good marriage.”
Wedding Rings – Tips For a Green Wedding
The Cornish couple’s idea of a green wedding hasn’t been limited to their choice of wooden wedding rings. The wedding will aim to be as green as possible in a large number of ways and the choice of wedding rings is just one of them. Some of the other ways the bride and groom to be aim to keep their wedding green include:
- No paper invites; invitations sent by email
- Wine from Cornish vineyard
- Wedding outfits from charity shops
- Walking to reception
- Light bulbs as wedding favours
- Confetti from fallen spring blossom
