Wedding Rings – Faster Than A Speeding Bullet
According to a report in the Metro, an American antique shop owner had a lucky escape when his shop was held up by armed robbers and his wedding ring deflected a bullet away when the assailants shot at him. Wedding rings aren’t typically known for the bullet proof properties, so, the store owner, Donnie Register, knows just how lucky he was.
Wedding Rings – The Finger Factor
Wedding rings are placed on the ring finger because of an age old belief that there is a vein that runs directly from this finger to the heart. Donnie Register, the Mississippi antique store owner will be thankful for this piece of folklore regarding wedding rings as it undoubtedly went a long way towards saving his life. According to the report in the Metro, the wedding ring’s act of heroism began when the two robbers entered the store and asked to see a rare coin collection. Once Mr Register returned with the collection, the two robbers demanded money and in the commotion, a shot was fired. This was the wedding ring’s time to shine and when Mr Register lifted his hand to protect himself, the wedding ring deflected the bullet and prevented it from causing considerably more damage.
Wedding Rings – Divine Intervention
In terms of preventing armed robbery, wedding rings aren’t generally the best first line of defence but the police in Mississippi stated that the wedding ring definitely saved the man’s life. Mr Register’s wife, however, believe that the credit for the sparing of her husband’s life should be given to God but she can also take some of the acclaim as, if she had not married Mr Register, he may not be alive today. So, not only are wedding rings a sign of the sanctity of marriage but they also can have the less regular use of foiling an armed robbery.
