Wedding Rings – Balloon Bandit
Wedding rings hold huge sentimental value and losing a ring can be gut wrenching for a bride or groom but in the case of Calum McFayden, he can only really have himself to blame. According to a report in the Sun, the 35 year old father from Scarborough was entertaining his son when he decided that he wanted to tie his wedding ring to a helium balloon. Disaster inevitably ensued.
Wedding Rings – Free As A Bird
Wedding rings are known for taking flights from justice or, more accurately, lost inexplicably but not many wedding rings will have taken it as literally as Calum McFayden’s. According to the report in the Sun, Calum and his four year old son, Henry, were playing with the helium filled balloon in the lounge of his house when his son asked to tie the wedding ring to the end of the balloon. The balloon floated to the ceiling and Calum consequently forgot about it when a football match began which signalled the beginning of the wedding ring’s demise. Whilst distracted, Mr McFayden’s son opened the front door and, with the wedding ring as its passenger, the helium balloon floating out the door and into the great unknown.
Wedding Rings – A Safe Return
Now Calum McFayden is hoping for the safe return of his ring, which wasn’t expensive as wedding rings go but which held significant sentimental value. Speaking to the Sun, Mr McFayden stated, “The ring has not been off my hand in years. It could be anywhere in the country now, or even further. My wife wasn’t too impressed and told me it was a stupid thing to do. I tend to agree. I just want the ring back. It’s only worth £100 but it’s the sentimental value, and to stop the ribbing.” Wedding rings will continue to be lost all over the world for the foreseeable future but, for Calum McFayden, he won’t be making the same mistake again.
